Sixteen - Aquamarine

Skies can be aquamarine can't they? - well they are in the French Alps! The water certainly is, but alas no good photo.

The luggage label was for sale individually - so much better than being left with a pack. The background is card with two lengths of ribbon and the alphabet stickers are Prima.

http://www.anniversaryideas.co.uk/ is where I found modern symbols or gemstones associated with anniversaries. Alternatives for year 16 are peridot or silver holloware.

Fifteen - Crystal

Celebration Tracker card was a perfect way of recording my husband's 40th birthday in 2001. Small stick on stones represent crystal.
So far I've followed the traditional wedding anniversary symbols and some inspiraation from Jo Verso's Cross Stitch Cards & Keepsakes.
John was vexed when his friends only allowed him runner up in the carting!

Fourteen - Ivory

For this snowy scene I discovered the perfect gadget to satisfy my over use of photographs. Borrowed from one of the girls at the monthly scrapbooking get together.

Easy to find snowy scrapbooking paper on an ivory background with a few added sparkly snowflakes!

Lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you!

Thirteen - Lace

John and I had the last page to ourselves, so one for Tom & Emma.

I'd be lying if I didn't admit to struggling with it. I found the lace paper and wanted to use the pics taken at the Teppanyaki Restaurant in Dubai of Emma in her pretty daisy skirt and Tom dressed as chef.

So much pale yellow and white - the page was just turning out too insipid. Anyway, in the end, rather than fuss further, I lifted with the letters used to spell Teppenyaki and some bright yellow stones in the daisies (just about visible from my photo).
Cute kids!

Twelve - Silk

I thought I'd celebrate the 'just us' time we had during a long weekend in Madrid by using the some of the literature I had saved, even the red ribbon was wrapped around the menu.
Combined with the silk flowers on paper from K & Company has a flambouyant flamenco feel.
Hola!

Eleven - Steel

Tin? Steel? What's the difference?

Well, I thought of steel as being more utilitarian so the photograph holders looked like just the thing. A more ornate grey background seemed a good contrast to the tin page.

Too many photos? How do you choose?!

Ten - Tin

Photos mounted on shiny silver card on a grey background. How pleased was I when I found a left over 'Under every great hat' embelishment from some cards I made a few years ago, perfect for my 'titfer' photos.

Imagine. Simplify.

Nine - Pottery

Do you detect a new theme? Pottery - this has driven me, well potty! I lost enthusiasm when all I could find were mock pottery vases.

I haven't even finished the journaling, apart from a post-it-note! It was a great british caravaning holiday though, starting in Ross on Wye, then to Portsmouth and back via Rutland Water.

Help!

Eight - Brass

Now I'm not so happy! I have the right paper and some appropriate stick on bits following a few trips to Egypt visiting family, but can I find coins? I've been through all the purses containing small change from countries we've never even been to, but I can't find any Egyptian Brass.

Until this is found this page will not be finished.

At 20 months old Emma was unphased, her Nana said "Take her to one of the Seven Wonders of the World and all she wants to do is play in the sand". I need to add that somehow - I feel I should have made a better job of this page.

Seven - Wool

Too good to be true now, isn't it? Anybody would have thought I'd planned this.

First birthday, tractor present and the theme 'wool'!

You can buy crochet circles, however, my friend Kay crochet mine. The perfect hessian/wool look paper was another of the 20p find.

Six - Sugar

How well planned was that?! - Emma added the icing on the cake in year six!

A precious little baby girl to play with and adore -
to spoil a little and love a lot - who could ask for more?

Lots of sugar and spice and all things nice, cupcakes galore (courtesy of cupcake revolution 2009!) Gosh, I wish I'd splashed on some make up though!

Five - Wood

Here comes trouble - with a capital T!

Simple snapshots using rhymes from Tom's baby cards:

L is for the laughter and the love baby grows

O is for the overwhelming joy your family knows

V is for the very special little boy he'll be

E is for each fun-filled day of new discovery

Wood (as well as being my maiden name) is in the form of a heart shaped button. The washing line paper I found in a sale of papers cost 20p!

Four - Fruit & Flowers

In every season of life, there is something to celebrate.

One of my biggest problems with scrapbooking is wanting to use too many photographs. However, with this page I didn't feel the need to hold back.

A celebration of all things seasonal and single with no commitments other than to each other. Whether climbing Ben Nevis, dressing up in black tie or as medieval subjects or just enjoying the open air - a couple for all seasons.

The fruity paper was a great find and the colourful apple and pear brads.

Three - Leather

I know the idea of a blog is do add something every day - but I don't know when I'll be ill again (LOL) and I've lots of catching up to do!

My daughter had a Saturday job at an interior designers, Alex would give her old sample books and fents. One of the books was full of leather samples - ideal for this page. The dog bone is cut out of suede and the coller and lead (!) from leather.

John had his dog, Pat before me, we had a love / hate relationship, but she was very loyal. Before we were married if I stayed at John's house she would chew his clothes, she started doing it again a few years later after our first born.

Two - Cotton

My daughter's friend bought her a hand sewn card and I tried to replicate the idea. I couldn't really make it work so ended up just cutting clothes shapes from fabric and adding a dog and a cat. I thought the postage stamp stamp and luggage label tied through with some scraps of ribbon, complimented the first house theme.

~Quote - Life's simple pleasures are the greatest blessings of all ...

One - Paper

I didn't mention - I'm not that good at photography!

I started with photos from our Honeymoon in Nice - other than that I found we hadn't taken that many photos in our first year of marriage!

Paper was a pretty easy start - I used a few types, some pearl paper for the base, mounted photos on card, paper with heartshapes is a sort of silicone paper and mulberry tissue paper for texture. You may wonder why I chose peach - yes folks, that was the wedding theme colour of bridesmaid dresses and flowers in 1987!

I added a say so I found from a previous project and some memories from honeymoon.

How do I love thee?
Let me count the ways.

Today!

My blog begins on a 'sick day' - it's ok, I'm self employed and work with my husband, John. I took Friday off for my birthday, went down with the second dose of the horrible cold thing on Saturday and have been feeling sorry for myself. I go in to work today on half speed or tomorrow tip top. I hate being ill and daytime tv is terrible!

Eighteen months ago I decided I wanted to make a scrapbook for John and my 25th Wedding Anniversary - June 2012. So the main purpose of my blog is to document my album (just hope JT doesn't spot this in the meantime!)

I've tried to incorporate bits and bobs I've had lying around, so perhaps a bit less designer that most books. My thanks go the ladies I meet at Embsay for their kind inspiration and laughter. Also to my friend Kay who puts up with my scrapbooking capers - Kay is into patchwork and darned good at it, she can't really get her head around tearing up bits of paper and photos and sticking them back together!!
